Steiff Rough Rider - Rare Collectible

A magnificent tribute to the inspiration for the original Teddy bear! Rough Rider stands 12 inch tall. This gallant rider is produced in the essence of the legendary American President Theodore Roosevelt who lent his name to the beloved Teddy bear. Rough Rider is presented as a cream-colored, jointed Teddy bear made of the finest alpaca, wearing a sand-colored cotton uniform with a leather belt and brown hat, whose brim is fixed with the gold-plated Steiff 'Button in Ear.' His outfit is reminiscent of the first US volunteer cavalry regiment, the Rough Riders, who were led by Roosevelt himself in the Spanish-American War. His beautiful horse is crafted of exquisite mohair and has realistic, hand-painted detail. The hooves, hand-made saddle and bridle are genuine dark brown leather, decorated with studs and miniatures. The horse and rider are mounted on a wooden pedestal, whose glazed surface is adorned with a small brass plate that bears the inscription 'Rough Rider'. Horse and rider are part of a Limited Edition commemorating the year of Theodore Roosevelt's birth. Part of the 2008 Steiff Worldwide collection.
