I bought this at the same time as a little Colorforms set. My daughter has pulled this out a few times and looked at it but she likes the Colorforms a lot better. This set is cute, but she doesn't really "get it" in the same way she immediately got the concept with the Colorforms even though I showed her how to place the pieces on the felt board. This set is cute, but it doesn't have an obvious theme. My daughter is 2 1/2 and both this set and the Colorforms set I bought had a recommended age of 36 months +, I think she will like this better when she is older so I'm taking a good amount of blame for her lack of interest. The pieces are decently durable. They are felt so they could definitely be pulled apart by a 3 year old (mine could rip them easily) - it's a matter of if they wanted to rip them apart. They board is pretty durable. I'm iffy on the toy. It's cute. There's nothing wrong with it. It's just not anything fantastic. I loved these things when I was a kid and I bought it knowing how much I would have loved it. I think in a year my kid might really like this. I think maybe 4 - 6 is a better age range for this toy.
